By now, you must have heard about the rapid progress of AI in the past couple of years. Since the announcement of DALLE and Chat GPT, we have witnessed tremendous advancements in Generative AI technology. People can now create new images, text, video, and audio using simple text prompts. The results are nothing short of magical, or at least they feel that way when observed casually. Of course, AI occasionally makes mistakes, hallucinates, or produces irrelevant information. However, these issues are likely temporary as AI developers work to address them.
In the meantime, I have been exploring how to solve our day-to-day problems using this promising technology. While it has its quirks, we can harness its power with caution. By implementing safeguards to prevent it from going off track, we can leverage generative AI to solve many real-world problems.
Since founding DreamzAR in August 2021, I have been focused on applying emerging technologies to address one fundamental problem: instantly visualizing new garden designs in our home's outdoor spaces. From using Augmented Reality for 3D Landscape Design to employing Generative AI in 2D Landscape Design, we are getting closer to fulfilling this promise.
It has been over a year since the launch of the original open-source Generative AI models, and I have been continuously experimenting with them to ensure their outputs are reliable and actionable. This is crucial because the designs generated by the AI must not only look good but also be consistently usable. If users cannot purchase the garden design elements or plants featured in the rendered designs, then those designs serve no practical purpose. They become nothing more than pieces of art. While DreamzAR may not solve the problem of actually getting a landscaping contractor to you, it does remove the first hurdle by effortlessly visualizing new yard designs.
Introducing DreamzAR's Landscape AI Tool
Yard Design With Yard Photos
Simply start with the photo of your yard, select from 20+ garden design styles like Japanese Zen Garden, Drought Resistant Garden, Tropical Garden and many more, and see the new deigns rendered for you overlaid on top of your yard's photo.
Here are some new garden designs created with DreamzAR Landscape AI tool.
Get thousands of inspiring yard design ideas
Landscape AI can generate thousands of unique, never seen before landscape deigns. Browse DreamzAR's AI Landscape Designs Gallery for inspiring garden design styles like California Style Garden, New England Style Garden, and even some unique styles like
Customize Garden Designs With Easy Inputs to AI
Choose from garden design styles and garden design element like outdoor furniture, landscaping style like traditional or modern and group of plants that usually go together.
If you don't find what you're looking for, then use text prompts to describe your idea. Choose from curated text prompts, use them as is. or modify them to include your own design ideas. Experiment with the prompts and rendered designs. Keep the record of all the prompts you cerated in DreamzAR's Prompt Book.
Let AI Select the Yard or Select It For AI
Our AI Model detects the area of the yard that can be redesigned with new style. This is a default mode. In this mode, when you select design options, DreamzAR simply replaces the current yard content with newly designed yard content.
In some cases, you don't want the app itself selecting the yard area. For instance, you need to redesign only specific corner area of your yard or if the yard has some clutter that you want to address. With a tool to highlight the portion of the yard using a brush, you can simply draw on the yard photo and tell AI to use only the highlighted yard area to draw new garden deign.

Tips for Capturing Yard Photo To Use with Landscape AI
AI model does it best to render a new design overlaid on top of the yard photo - this technique is called "in-painting". But it has some limitations when dealing with all situations.
For instance, it can produce sub-optimal results when
There is not a large enough area to draw. e.g. The most of the yard photo shows facade of a home or sky or tall trees with very small yard area to redesign. In such case AI model doesn't find large enough space to work on.
The yard photo is dark. e.g. if the yard photo is dark, AI model can have hard time identifying the yard area to work upon, resulting into a very small change in the overlaid design. (The generated design may appear much like the original yard photo.)
Quick instructions on how to capture the best photo for Landscape AI tool
Step back a little to capture as much of the yard as possible. Be safe! Hold your camera at eye-level and point it slightly downwards towards the ground.
Make sure to avoid including too much sky, fence, road, or buildings in the photo.
Take the photo during the day in good lighting conditions.
Try taking photos from a different direction or changing your viewpoint.
